This is a large, relatively sheltered sandy beach, on the south east facing side of the Lleyn Peninsula. The beach lies in the Lleyn Peninsula and the Sarnau Special Area of Conservation. To the north of the beach, the lower reaches of the Soch are designated as the Pen Benar Site of Special Scientific Interest, and inland to the west an area of land is designated as the Cors Llyferin Site of Special Scientific Interest. The water quality sample point is located in line with the slipway.
Water quality is classified as "Good" based on samples taken from the previous 4 years, 2021 through to 2024.
