Clacton (Groyne 41) beach is next to the pier on the central seafront of Clacton-on-Sea. It is a gently shelving sandy beach, much of which is covered at high water. It is a popular beach resort and is backed by the promenade. Behind the promenade, the town and coast road are on top of a 20-metre cliff. Permanent advice against bathing is in place at Clacton (Groyne 41). Clacton (Groyne 41) is no longer designated as a bathing water under the Bathing Water Regulations 2013 because water quality has been classified as Poor for five consecutive years and cannot be improved to meet the minimum standard of Sufficient required for all bathing waters.
