Redbarn Beach is a sandy/pebble beach located on an approx. 5km long stretch of sandy coastline which runs to the south west from Youghal town. The beach is quite open to rough weather & rough seas. The beach is bounded to the rear (north west) by sand dunes leading to agricultural lands, to the north is Ballyvergan Marsh a proposed Natural Heritage Area (pNHA 000078) and to the south is Ballymacoda (Clonpriest & Pillmore) a proposed NHA (pNHA 000077) and Special Area of Conservation (SAC 000077). The beach is used to some extent by anglers, walkers, surfers and windsurfers.

Water quality is classified as "Excellent" based on samples taken from the previous 4 years, 2021 through to 2024.
