Smallmouth Beach

Weymouth and Portland, England

Smallmouth Beach is a small cove overlooking Portland Harbour, located just off the main road between Weymouth and Portland. The beach is mostly sandy, with signs warning of sinking mud at low tide. A slipway provides access to the beach, which is popular for water sports, including kite surfing. Swimmers should be cautious of dangerous currents beyond the cove, caused by the flow of water under Ferry Bridge. The South West Coast Path runs directly behind the beach, and Chesil Beach car park is about a 10-minute walk away.
