Streedagh Beach is an exposed sandy beach, backed by sand dunes. Streedagh Beach has a fixed coastal dune system containing a variety of herbaceous vegetation. The estuary nearby consists of sand flats with areas of salt marsh around the margins, these habitats support a variety of plant species. This beach forms part of a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) known as the Streedagh Point Dunes. The beach forms part of a tombolo formation, joining Conor’s Island to Streedagh Point and it is approximately 2.5km in length.
Water quality is classified as "Excellent" based on samples taken from the previous 4 years, 2021 through to 2024.
